What to Expect:
- Facilitation and Workshop Development: Collaborate with peers and CSJD staff to design and lead workshops on topics such as identity, social justice, and effective dialogue techniques. These sessions aim to empower students to navigate and engage in conversations across differences.
- Program Support: Contribute to various CSJD initiatives, including MediaBytes, Your Story Belongs Here, InterACT, and the First-Year Seminar on Race, Social Justice, and Dialogue. Your involvement will help broaden the reach and impact of these programs within the UMBC community.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training sessions and staff meetings to enhance your facilitation skills and deepen your understanding of social justice concepts. This continuous learning environment ensures that you are well-equipped to handle complex discussions and scenarios.
- Community Engagement: Work closely with various campus departments, such as The Women’s Center and the Center for Democracy and Civic Life, to support collaborative dialogue programs. This aspect of the fellowship emphasizes the importance of building relationships and networks across campus to promote a more inclusive community.
Commitment:
Fellows are expected to dedicate up to 10 hours per week to their responsibilities, which include attending weekly staff meetings, facilitating workshops, and supporting CSJD programs. Flexibility is essential, as some events may occur during evenings or weekends.
